SWEDEN: Is there a gay sauna in Malmö, you might ask? Not exactly. Although many of the local gays consider the Ribersborgs Kallbadhus is THE gay hotspot of the Swedish city – to see and to be seen, and maybe even more, of course. With the monthly event “Queer Kallis”, the traditional house from the late 19th century is finally opening up to the whole LGBTQ+ community, including trans and non-binary sauna fans.

We are excited that StockholmLGBT invited us back to Gay Stockholm in the near future and shared with us some exciting gay travel news about Stockholm. For us, Stockholm really is one of the best LGBTQ+ and gay vacation destinations not only in Europe but worldwide. Even though we won’t go back to Stockholm this summer, but instead, will be exploring the World Pride co-hosting city of Malmö, we wanna share Stockholm Gay Travel News in our “Ode to Joy, to Stockholm”. Definitely some great reasons to go back to Sweden!

Also this year the visit to Gay Pride Parades and CSD Events all over the world was at the top of our Gay Travel Bucket List. We are proud that we went hand in hand with our rainbow flag to a total of six Gay Pride parades in 2019. From Canada, the USA and Sweden to Amsterdam, we support the LGBTQ + community in their struggle for equality and acceptance and continue the LGBTQ+ history of the numerous lesbian, gay, trans and queer activists.

Gay-owned Karnelund Krog & Rum – our gay couple hotel and restaurant review. Close your eyes and imagine yourself on a Swedish farm with apple trees full of juice apples surrounded by a wide golden cornfield. That is how we can describe the Scania landscape and that’s where we spent our last night. But not just somewhere. We stayed in a gay couple owned and operated farm hotel with southern Swedish charm and welcoming atmosphere. Gay couple Janne and Peter converted the historic cottage and buildings into a quaint hotel and restaurant.

Kivik’s gay Cake Cowboy. The third stop on our 5-days road trip around South Sweden was Kivik, a locality in Österlen, the southeastern part of Scania (Skåne). This picturesque village with its small harbor is simply perfect to take long walks, enjoy some of the cider the region is famous for and enjoy some freshly caught seafood by sunset. But Kivik is even more. It is home to a very special person of the LGBTQ+ community who has his own story of pride, acceptance and gay life to tell. Yes, we are talking about the Cake Cowboy Markus Lundqvist,

SWEDEN: Review of The Vault Hotel in Helsingborg. The next stop on our South Swedish road trip after Mölle was the harbor town Helsingborg. The second biggest city of Scania (Skåne) is known for its beautiful old town, the ferry connection over the Øresund to Denmark and is, in fact, an important industrial location. We arrived in Helsingborg in the early afternoon checking-in at The Vault Hotel just around the corner from Helsingborg’s City Hall.

SWEDEN: The Scandinavian country Sweden is a dream destination for us. Why? Well, it offers everything we need for a perfect vacation from beautiful nature, stunning views to a broad variety of organic and locally sourced cuisine. We got super excited about the offer to join forces with the National Tourism Board of Skåne, also known as Scania, to show you the gay-friendly side of Southern Sweden. And by writing that, we are most definitely not exaggerating.

After our Gay City Trip to Malmö, we took a rental car to drive all the way northwest of the South Swedish county Skåne. The first stop on our 5-day road trip was the Kullaberg Nature Reserve and the little fisher village Mölle. Stunning views, rough nature, and the cute little colorful Swedish houses give this region of Sweden a very unique atmosphere. Embedded in the rough nature of the Kattegat shoreline (name of the sea between Northern and Baltic Sea), we found the gay-friendly and gay couple owned café Ransvik Havsveranda with a special historical significance.

SWEDEN: A journal of our 4-day Gay City Trip to Malmö during Pride Weekend. Did we already mention, that we love Sweden? The Scandinavian country is one of our favorite European gay travel destinations that is currently ranking on the top position of this year’s Gay Travel Index 2019 together with Canada. But besides this encouraging data, we experienced an ongoing welcoming and LGBTQ+ friendly environment be it in the bigger cities of Stockholm or Malmö or in the countryside of the South Swedish county Skåne.
