Gay-friendly Review of The Vault Hotel in Helsingborg. The next stop on our South Swedish road trip, after Mölle, was the harbor town Helsingborg. The second-biggest city of Scania (Skåne) is known for its beautiful old town, the ferry connection over the Öresund to Denmark, and is, in fact, an important industrial location. We arrived in Helsingborg in the early afternoon checking in at The Vault Hotel just around the corner from Helsingborg’s City Hall. The gay-friendly accommodation was designed in a former bank building offering its guests luxury, modern design, several art pieces, and the option to have breakfast, dinner, and some drinks in the hotel restaurants. Additionally, LGBTQ+ guests at the Vault Hotel Helsingborg can reach some of the city’s sights such as the Terrace Stairs to the former castle tower Kärnan, and the City Hall. Gay Couple Hotel Review The Vault Hotel
Already by entering the huge massive building and walking upstairs into the lobby was an experience. The historical ceiling in the hotel lobby is spectacular and every inch of the hotel, the bars, restaurants, and sitting areas is worthy of an old palatial bank. And even the elevator is an experience and still the original system from back in time when this building was a bank. You can even go in the actual vault downstairs which is a small wellness and fitness area.
We stayed in one of the Deluxe Vault Rooms on the third floor overlooking the main street Stortorget. Above all, we had a spectacular view of the terrace stairs Terrasstrapporna, Helsingborg’s city hall as well as the harbor and the sea. The interior design and luxurious furniture of our ‘private vault’ was everything. Especially the wallpaper and all the little design items and things perfectly arranged and placed all around the room make the vault rooms so special. The pink velvet bed was super comfortable and a great photo location.
Road Trip South Sweden
From Malmö to Kullaberg, Mölle, Helsingborg to Ystad, all the way to Kivik – We feel like being in a Swedish summer dream with spectacular views, stunning nature, delicious food, and the best beaches of Sweden. Meanwhile, did you know about the clothing-optional gay beach of South Sweden?
Breakfast & Dinner at their best
After locking ourselves in for a comfortable night in the heart of Helsingborg, it was time for breakfast. And believe us, you prefer not to miss the Vault Hotel’s breakfast buffet. The rich buffet offered everything we wanted to put on our table for the most important meal of the day. Start with some homemade granola, local yogurt, and fresh fruits, get yourself a warm croissant and freshly baked bread, put some cold meat and cheese cut on it, and don’t forget some eggs of your choice and some delicious Swedish pickles. And finally, hot coffee pairs perfectly with a warm Swedish pastry. Yummy!
After a day in Helsingborg, we can recommend dinner at the Venti Trattoria serving classic Italian flavors with an American twist in the evening. We finished our adventurous day in Helsingborg with an Aperol Spritz and Italian beer sitting outside on the terrace overlooking the busy main street of Helsingborg.
Gay Sweden Travel Guide
The central country of Scandinavia (Norway in the west, Finland in the east) is undoubtedly one of the most gay-friendly countries in Europe, even the whole world. So far, we’ve visited the Swedish capital Stockholm, Malmö, and did a road trip around Scania, Sweden’s Southern part. All LGBTQ+ travelers need to know about Sweden in our Gay Sweden Travel Guide.
Exploring Gay-friendly Helsingborg
If you are desiring some historical buildings, some shopping, or for some hours in the sauna skinny dipping in the waters of Öresund, Helsingborg is made for a charming overnight adventure in South Sweden. After we checked in and took a short nap, it was time for us to swing by the Swedish sauna Pålsjöbaden. While swimming naked in the refreshing sea, we experienced one of the best sunsets in Sweden ever. The next day after breakfast, we decided to first walk around the old town and to visit the Kärnan when we accidentally found the vintage store Sweet And Tender. As a result, we continued our road trip to the south coast with some new choices, visiting Trelleborg and Ystad. More about our Gay Summer Adventure in Scania here >
