We would like to thank you for your loyalty and support during our past travel months, for your tips, advice, and for all the time we spend together along the travel paths. The past 12 months have been very special to us. Exploring unknown countries, meeting so many, so lovely people and being able to attend Gay Pride Parades in Helsinki, Tel Aviv, and Amsterdam just made 2016 to one of our best travel years we ever had.
Nevertheless, the world for the LGBT Community is changing. We saw a lot of bright and promising moments with new countries embracing equal marriage and rainbow demonstrations worldwide. But Lesbian, Gay, and Trans people experienced also pain, punishment, and injustice in 2016. Our mission while traveling the world together as an openly gay couple is to bring support, love, and the optimistic side of life to the destinations we are visiting. We are looking forward to keep on doing that in 2017 together with you. January 2016 – Eindhoven | Part 1 Dutch City Tour
The year 2016 started for us with Daan acting in the Dutch family play “De Gelaarsde Poes” touring around the Netherlands. A great option for Karl to explore Daan’s home country. Our first Gay Couple Weekend Trip brought us to Eindhoven in the south of the Netherlands. And of course, we have pictures of Daan as Princess Willeke.

January 2016 – Groningen | Part 2 Dutch City Tour
Our second destination on our Dutch City Tour was Groningen, all the way up north of the Netherlands. During our stay, we were able to visit the Groninger Museum with its David Bowie exhibition. May he rest in peace.

February 2016 – The Hague | Part 3 Dutch City Tour
Call it Den Haag, De Hague or The Hague, the Dutch city not far from the coast is worth a visit and full of surprises. We spent there a long weekend in February staying in a wonderful loft in the city center.

February 2016 – Utrecht | Part 4 Dutch City Tour
Also called the heart of the Netherlands. City number four of our Dutch Tour was Utrecht. The tiny, cozy but mostly underrated canal city has its own, heart warming flair and a lovely LGBT community. In 2017, the city is planning the first ever Utrecht Canal Pride, a small version of the Amsterdam Pride Parade. We are looking forward to seeing love and rainbows in this beautiful city.

March 2016 – Nijmegen | Part 5 Dutch City Tour
Duch city number five was Nijmegen, the city close to the German border. Although it was March, we had great weather conditions to rent a bicycle and bike this city in Gelderland along the Waal river and enjoyed good food and interesting architecture.

March 2016 – Rotterdam | Part 6 Dutch City Tour
The major harbor city of the Netherlands, Rotterdam, was our 6th stop on the Dutch city tour. Impressive architecture, for example of the Erasmus bridge, water taxi tours and great food places made our weekend in Rotterdam a fantastic time just on the edge of spring time.

March/April 2016 – Austria Carinthia, Villach & Gerlitzen
Daan had to play and so the time had come for Karl to travel without his man to Austria to enjoy the late winter sun in Carinthia in the south of the Austrian Alps. We cannot wait to travel together to our first Gay Ski Weekend. More about that very soon on our Gay travel blog!

April 2016 – Stockholm, Sweden
Almost Eurovision time and Karl was invited to explore the Swedish capital, Stockholm just prior the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Springtime had arrived and Stockholm was totally geared up for Music.

Mai 2016 – Amsterdam | Part 7 Dutch City Tour
Last but not least, we decided to introduce you to our home city, Amsterdam. Famous for the canals, cheese, bikes and tulips, the Dutch capital is a great place to stay especially in spring and summer time.

Mai 2016 – USA Orlando, Disney & Universal Studios
In May, time had come for America! Our first trip to the United States brought us via Atlanta to Orlando. Our 10-day trip was all about Disney, Universal Studios and exploring every attraction of the theme park world in Florida. June 2016 – USA, New York City
On our way back home, we had a short stop over for some hours to get a sneaky inside of New York City. Huge, crowded and fantastic.. would be the right words to describe the East coast metropole of the USA.

June 2016 – Israel, Tel Aviv
Just back from the American continent, we were invited to explore Tel Aviv during Gay Pride 2016. A whole week was set up to see the beauty of the Gay capital of the middle East with a day at a water park party, a hotel experience with a rooftop pool and the grand finale with the unique Tel Aviv Pride Parade. July 2016 – Finland, Helsinki
Not much time to rest before our flight with Finnair departed towards Helsinki for the Euro Games 2016, the Helsinki Gay Pride Parade and our city week in the Finnish capital Helsinki. Finland is one of those countries, we want to go back immediately.

September-Oktober 2016 – USA, Road Trip South West
It was time for our second trip to the United States of America. December 2016 – France, Nice
We got the invitation from IGLTA to attend the Video Festival Objectif in the French City of Nice. Only 6 months after the Nice attack we felt totally safe and enjoyed a long December weekend on the French Riviera with great food places and warming winter sun.
