A Zodiac Tour Glacier Lagoon Jökulsárlón in Southern Iceland – We visited both lagoon lakes and chose the more extensive version for a Zodiac boat tour. Why decide on the Jökulsárlón Tour? The water of the melted glacier ice flows into a short glacier river that flows into the ocean with smaller and bigger Icebergs. A huge bridge for cars and pedestrians connects both sides of the water. And make sure to visit the black beach in the ocean after the zodiac boat tour. The crystal clear icebergs lying on the beach are unbelievably beautiful. Finally, put a visit to Skaftafell National Park on your bucket list! – Southern Iceland through a couple of men‘s eyes.
Zodiac Tour Glacier Lagoon Jökulsárlón with Smári
Packed into a warming waterproof onesie, the tour started with a 5-min walk to the Zodiacs for our tour on the big Glacier Lagoon. After a calm beginning with some explaining words about how everything works, our tour guide Smári put the pedal to the metal! What an outstanding experience to be so close to giant Icebergs in ice-cold water and to see the end of a glacier so close with interesting background stories.
Eternal? Environmental Protection for a green future
After an hour with tearful eyes because of the speed and cold wind and the sun on our faces, we were on our way back to the Zodiac boat stop. Definitely, one of the highlights of our Iceland road trip. And of course, this trip makes us think about how fragile our environment and nature truly are. And we are having it in our hands to make a difference that future LGBTQ+ travelers will still be able to see these wonders in Iceland. This boat tour was a great beginning to a day full of adventures in South-East Iceland.
