So Queer is Malmö really – World Pride City 2021

SWEDEN: Get ready for World Pride 2021! Together with the Danish capital Copenhagen, Malmö will be co-hosting the biggest LGBTQ+ celebration the city has ever seen. In 2019, we were lucky to attend the 25th anniversary of Malmö Pride. In 2020, we decided to go on a second trip to Malmö… We caught up with five queer locals who took us to their favorite spots and shared their thoughts on LGBTQ+ life (in Malmö). For the first time in history, World Pride will be co-hosted by two different cities in two different countries. Connecting both cities, the Öresund bridge has made the queer relationship between Malmö and Copenhagen stronger than (ever) before. We want to know how and when queer people found their place in Malmö.

Best 10 Queer Movies 2021 at Amsterdam LGBTQ+ Film Festival

Our Top 10 list of the best queer movies in 2021 selected for the Amsterdam LGBTQ+ Film Festival Roze Filmdagen 2021. Already for 25 years, the biggest Dutch LGBTQ+ film festival is inviting the LGBTQ+ community to see the best, the most popular, and the newest LGBTQ+ movies, shorts, and documentaries. To make sure, you won’t miss any of the great queer movies, shorts, and films from Brazil to Argentina, from Italy to Israel, or from the USA to Iraq, we teamed up with festival director Werner Borkes to select some of the best movies about queer people, love, families and different generations from around the world. In 2021, the LGBTQ Film Festival in Amsterdam will celebrate its 24th-anniversary featuring movies like the Italian movie “Bitter Years”, the US-American film “Cowboys” and the movie “Kojin” from Iraq.

Queer Couple Story of transman Soldado and his now-husband. In keeping with today’s Transgender Day of Remembrance, also known as TOD for short, our Couple of Men reporter Sarah was able to talk to transman Soldado. Soldado Kowalisidi was born in Siberia, Russia, and had to face discrimination and violence for being LGBT in his home country. Soldado, who had to flee to Ukraine, soon had to run again from the Russian authorities.

Important LGBTQ+ Activists of the Queer Community

These 10 people have made history for the LGBTQ+ Movement. The path in the right direction always starts with a first step usually taken by very brave people who disagree with the given circumstances. The fight of the LGBTQ+ community for equality, tolerance, and acceptance on the numerous Gay Pride parades and demonstrations began with a small step. However, there have been many lesbian, gay, transgender and queer people who have taken this first step, helping to make the LGBTQ+ movement what it is today. That’s why in this article on Couple of Men, we’ll introduce you to 10 LGBTQ+ activists who have made significant contributions to the progress of the LGBTQ+ history. All in their own special and personal way.

Top 10 Queer Movies 2020 at Amsterdam LGBTQ+ Film Festival

Our Top 10 list of the best Queer Movies 2020 selected for the Amsterdam LGBTQ+ Film Festival Roze Filmdagen 2020. Since 25 years, the biggest Dutch LGBTQ+ film festival is inviting the LGBTQ+ community to see the best new LGBTQ+ related movies. To make sure, you won’t miss any of the great movies and films from the Philippines to Germany, from Argentina to Canada or from Panama to Israel, we teamed up with festival director Werner Borkes to select some of the best movies about queer love, threesome relationships, trans characters and love stories in difficult cultures from around the world. In 2020, the LGBTQ Film Festival in Amsterdam will celebrate its 23rd-anniversary featuring movies like the German movie “Heute oder Morgen”, the trans story from Panama “Todos Cambiamos” and the Canadian movie “Jeune Juliette”.

Genderqueer: Documentary about an LGBTQIAP+ Queertopia

Gender, Gender Identities, Sexuality – The recently released Dutch documentary ‘Beste Reizigers’ by draftsman Nirit Pelet for VPRO Tegenlicht deals with the future of gender segregation in males and females, diverse gender identities and trans people. The almost 45-minute documentary covers various examples of where the binary gender system is already being dispensed within the Netherlands but also looks abroad.

Best Queer Movies 2019 & Documentaries at Roze Filmdagen

he 10 Best Queer Movies 2019 at Roze Filmdagen, the 11-days Amsterdam LGBTQ+ Film Festival. Like the last two years, we teamed up with festival director and LGBTQ+ movie guru Werner Borkes with whom we chose 10 films and documentaries drag queens, intersex topics, about being trans in sports and more you should put on your movie list for this year’s event. The 22nd edition of the Dutch LGBTQ+ film festival features the world premiere ‘Galore’ about our beloved drag queen Lady Galore. In our list of the “best queer movies 2019” includes contributions from the UK, the USA, the Netherlands as well as Italy, Kenya, and Scotland.

Homochrom Filmfest 2018: Top Queer Films

Our 6 Top Queer Films 2018 for Homochrom Filmfest in the German cities Cologne and Dortmund. The leaves are turning orange and red, and autumn always means it‘s cinema time again in Germany! To give you the best of 2018 queer cinema, we from Couple of Men had an interesting chat with festival director Martin Wolkner about the program of the 8th Filmfest homochrom in Cologne and Dortmund. The queer film festival scene in Germany is second only to the USA (40+ festivals), and homochrom has become the second-largest among the 25 German festivals. But homochrom is also one of the up-and-coming festivals to watch for when they announce their program loaded with insider tips. You will always discover and be surprised by some rare and perfect world cinema which could also have been at the Berlinale or even has been. Yet the biggest surprise of the 8th Filmfest homochrom might be that admission is free to all films in 2018. We would like to give you some suggestions to help you navigate your festival experience. The 10 Best Queer LGBTQ Movies 2018 selected by the Dutch Film Festival Roze Filmdagen in Amsterdam – This year for the first time, we selected the best queer movies for the biggest Dutch film festival “Pink Film Days”. Festival director Werner Borkes helped us to find the top feature films about transgender journeys, intersexual identities, and deeply personal stories of individual struggles about sex, love, and faith. Movies like “Jesus is dead” with a very diverse family road trip from the Philippines, the story of a threesome relationship “We Are Thr3e” from Argentina and the queer LGBTQ movie “Saturday Church” about faith, hope and finding yourself are just a view of the best 8 Queer Movies for this year’s 21st edition of the LGBTQ Film Festival in Amsterdam.
