The gay-friendly Coco’s Café, Jasper’s Best queer-friendly food place – We know it, you know it, finding the best breakfast place in town, especially when you are vegan or vegetarian is not always the easiest task to start your day with. Especially, when you are about to start a day full of nature explorations around Jasper National Park in Canada and the beautiful Rocky Mountains. But if you are looking for a gay-friendly restaurant or café with locally sourced organic ingredients in Jasper Town, we found the right place for you!
During our Winter Road Trip through the Canadian province of Alberta for Jasper Pride Festival, we spent five days in the small mountain town of Jasper staying at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge all the way up north the Icefields Parkway. The traditional but very open-minded and forward-thinking Canadian municipality of Jasper welcomed us with minus 20 degrees Celsius and a perfect winter wonderland. Good, that our place to go and have breakfast, the Coco’s Café established in 1991 at Patricia Street, is open all year long from January to December, even during the heaviest snowfall.
Cozy, Gay-friendly, central: Coco’s Café in Jasper
Good to know that our place to have breakfast, a snack around noon or just a fresh made barista coffee is open all year long from Monday to Sunday, even during the heaviest snowfall. At Coco’s Café, our daily explorations in and around Jasper started with a delicious breakfast in the tiny but super cozy Coffee Place in the city center of Jasper. Before checking the menu boards, catch up with one of the super friendly girls and boys preparing and serving the food to get to know all about the daily changing menu options. Choose your favorite meal out of warm or cold daily fresh (self-)made vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free dishes served with perfectly brewed barista coffee, milkshakes, or slushies.
Proud to be part of the Jasper LGBTQ Family
The owners of Coco’s Café in Jasper, Lynn and Andrew Wannop, are some of the biggest supporters of the annual Jasper Pride Festival in late winter. Of course, their place is participating in the annual popular gay pride rainbow window decoration challenge. In 2017, Coco’s Café was announced to be the winner with its colorful rainbow pride paintings and beautiful but powerful messages:
We should indeed keep calm in the face of difference & live our lives in a state of inclusion & wonder at the diversity of Humanity. – George Takai
Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life: Define yourself. – Harvey Fierstein
