The gay-friendly Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in Alberta, Canada: Over a hundred years of accommodation history located right at Lake Beauvert at Jasper National Park seems to be perfect as our “home” during Jasper Pride Festival 2017. The Lodge, an over 2,3 square kilometer huge mountain resort in the middle of Jasper National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site), is an all-year-round 4-star lodge with restaurants, pool, and SPA area all with incredible mountain views. The gay-friendly staff, a remarkable rustic but comfortable atmosphere, and the proximity to nature and wildlife of Jasper National Park in Canada made the Fairmont Lodge a perfect basis for a gay journey to the Rocky Mountains and Jasper town.
We stayed in a Junior Suite with a lake view, less than 5-minutes walking distance to the main building of the Fairmont Mountain Resort. Equipped with everything we needed for 5 nights in the Rockies, we enjoyed daily breakfast, we explored the nature and wildlife around the 4-star resort by fat bike, and we relaxed during the evening hours in the outside pool with Mountain View. In summer and winter time the Fairmont Hotel offers a variety of activities like snowshoeing, canoeing, and hiking trips, just to mention a view. Enjoy our review of the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Gay-friendly Accommodation with photos, stories, and info for a stay at the Fairmont hotel and see the legendary Canadian Fairmont JP Lodge through a couple of men‘s eyes.
Private Lodge at Fairmont Jasper Park Hotel
We stayed in a Junior Suite of the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge with King Size bed and Lake view. The room was spacious and separated by a wooden side door into the main bedroom and a small living room with sofa, table, and chairs, and of course, an incredible view over the lake. A small kitchen corner with complimentary coffee and tea utensils and a fridge led towards a gigantic wardrobe with a locker and storage room. The bathroom was equipped with a bath and more than enough space for our stuff. A hairdryer, complimentary shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, and mouth rinse as part of the facilities.
Breakfast & Dinner at Fairmont JPL Restaurants
The breakfast with a view was another highlight for us. Additional to the buffet, we tried several dishes from the menu. The buffet offers cold and warm dishes with, freshly made bread and various fruits and vegetables. Daan as a vegetarian could choose different vegetarian and even vegan dishes. All in all, we can recommend the kitchen of the Fairmont as we experienced amazing food creations with or without a Canadian touch.
Facilities of the 4-Star Mountain Resort
A huge lobby of the main building, 24-hour reception, valet parking service, various restaurants, chimneys, and a stunning view over the lake and the Rocky Mountains behind it: The legendary accommodation invites its guests to enjoy the unique and legendary atmosphere of the mountain resort. Opened officially in 1922, the Canadian National Railways turned the so-called Jasper “Tent City” with its huge luxury tents from 1915 into a log cabin resort. Additional to the cedar cabin lodges all over the Fairmont property, the main building offers guest rooms as well. The basement of the main building offers its (gay) travelers shops, art galleries, and the entrance to the SPA area and the outdoor pool and hot tub. The view over the mountains was our permanent companion. So be advised to check the time now and then to not miss your dinner reservation in one of the restaurants.
Explore Nature at Jasper Park Lodge
During our stay at JPL, we explored the surroundings by Fat Tire Bikes and during long walks around the lake, where we were able to come unbelievably close to the wildlife without disturbing it. But there is much more to do during your winter adventure in Jasper. For example, Ice skating on the Lake by the resort, curling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing trips, S’mores (that is a traditional nighttime campfire treat very popular in Canada and the USA), and more. Just drop by the adventure & activity center of JPL and make a reservation.
Résumé of our Fairmont Lodge stay:
Luxuries but rustic, close to nature and wildlife, and extraordinary (gay-) friendly staff made our stay a wonderful time in the Rocky Mountains of Canada. From Jasper Town, it is only a 5-minute drive into a calm and peaceful nature. If you are lucky, you might meet wolves, Wapiti’s or in summer times even bears. We will definitely stay at gay-friendly accommodation Fairmont Lodge at Jasper National Park again.

Good to know:
Every evening, there was a second room service. The bedsheet was opened up and a complimentary bottle of water for both, a bar of small chocolate and the weather forecast for the next days was waiting for us every evening in our lodge at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
