HELSINKI: Before we start with our review of the gay-friendly Klaus K Hotel in Helsinki, we want to warn you, it is going to be a very sexy gay-friendly hotel article.
eview of Katajanokka Hotel Helsinki Gay-friendly – Escape the Ordinary. Under this motto, hotel guests can discover a unique accommodation in a former Finnish prison on Helsinki’s island Katajanokka in a privately owned, gay-friendly lifestyle hotel. It was an interesting and exciting experience to stay in a modern and spacious hotel room in Helsinki which was in a building that was built to be the living and sleeping space for prisoners who had to serve their prison terms since the early 19th century. After all, the oldest parts of the prison date back to 1837. But the history as a county jail and pre-detention center Katajanokka with its remarkable red brick buildings ended in 2002. After a long and extensive restoration and renovation, Katajanokka transformed into a luxurious Finnish accommodation that re-opened in 2007. We were invited to test the extraordinary hotel in a prison setting paired with a luxurious and chic design and the famous kitchen of The Linnankellari restaurant with its diverse menu including meat and vegan options. Our mission was to find out what you can expect from this gay-friendly hotel in Helsinki. Enjoy our hotel review “Katajanokka Hotel Helsinki Gay-friendly” of the former Finnish prison and see the 4-star hotel in Helsinki through a couple of men‘s eyes.
Review of a Gay Couple Finnish Design Sauna LÖYLY Helsinki experience – A visit to Finland wouldn’t be perfect without sweating in a Finnish Sauna, at least once. Next to all the public saunas all around the city, in May 2016 Helsinki got a new design-attraction: the “design-sauna-experience” LÖYLY. And of course, we as sauna fans were excited to start our Saturday morning with a 2-hours stop on the peninsula Hernesaari in the southeastern part of Helsinki. This relaxing, gay-friendly hot spot with several saunas like a traditional smoke sauna is completely heated by firewood collected in the woods of Finland. Especially the morning hours at Löyly sauna are less busy and a great way to start a day during a Gay City Weekend Helsinki, in our case, for Helsinki Gay Pride. After all the sweating we cooled down by swimming in the open water of the Gulf of Finland and enjoyed the view over the bay with a good Finnish breakfast from the rooftop terrace. Interesting for us gay travel bloggers is the fact, that Finland has 3,3 million saunas for 5,4 million Fins. Although the need of public saunas is raising as part of the new urban culture, the numbers of public saunas are decreasing. Join us on our Helsinki-Sauna experience and get sweaty in the Finnish design sauna Löyly through a couple of men’s eyes.

Our Gay Couple Review Theme Park Linnanmäki Helsinki Finland – There is an Amusement Park in Finland? Yes, there is! The biggest Amusement of the Nordic country is Linnanmäki located right north of the city center of Helsinki. Opened in 1950, the Finnish Amusement Park offers 43 rides and attractions of all kind like the historical theater “Peacock-teatteri” and the museum “Linnanmäen museo”. All the attraction are situated on a hill with a great view over the Finnish capital but also in between rock formations and forest. Especially the view from the Ferris wheel is breathtaking. We could even spot the Baltic Sea. Linnamäki means literally translates “caste hill”.
The Gay Pride Helsinki LGBTQ Festival Parade 2016 – Helsinki calling for their Gay Pride! And of course, we as gay travel bloggers from Amsterdam are supporting the Finnish rainbow demonstration for equality, respect and love. As one of the most powerful but grounded Gay Pride Parades in Finland, Europe and worldwide we attended so far, we were able to capture our favorite moments of love, diversity, and beauty with our camera during our one week trip to the Finnish capital Helsinki for the EuroGames 2016 and the colorful Helsinki Gay Pride Weekend. More than 30.000 colorful dressed and motivated (not only LGBTQ) people from all over the world were demonstrating with self-made posters, rainbow flags, dancing performances, and their own voice for more equality, peace and recognition in society worldwide. The same weekend of Madrid and Cologne Pride, this secret gem of Helsinki Gay Pride was a great surprise for us as a gay couple traveling the world. Why? On a very warm hearted and colorful way, the Gay Pride Helsinki LGBTQ Festival Parade 2016 was one of the most diverse and best gay parades we ever walked. Enjoy our most powerful and colorful pictures taking in Helsinki and see the Gay Pride Week of the Finnish capital through a couple of men’s eyes!
Tom of Finland Movie Trailer – Most of us know Tom of Finland from sexy pornographic gay art with too big dicks, men in fetish gear, and very manly, handsome and idealystic painted male cartoons. But the story behind the Finnish artist Touko Valio Laaksonen is much more. Born in 1920, he started with his a way too sexy and provocativ drawings in a very difficult time around second World War and after. But his art was meant to liberate.
