KLM and WorldPride 2026 in Amsterdam
WorldPride 2026 briefly explained
In 2026, Amsterdam will become an international stage for diversity, visibility, and the queer community for two summer weeks. WorldPride 2026 in Amsterdam will attract millions of visitors from all over the world to the capital of the Netherlands. At the same time, Amsterdam will celebrate important LGBTQ+ milestones, such as 30 years of Pride in Amsterdam and 25 years of marriage equality. The city will be not only a party hotspot but also a political and cultural meeting place for activists, organizations, and travelers.
An airline partnership also plays an important role here. The two SkyTeam members, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Delta Air Lines, safely and visibly bring people from all over the world to WorldPride in Amsterdam. Only with safe and well-organized travel does WorldPride become a truly global event.

KLM is the Official airline partner & WorldPride sponsor
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Delta Air Lines act as official airline partners and sponsors of WorldPride Amsterdam 2026. They are deliberately positioning themselves as part of this Pride story. In their campaigns, they promote flights to Amsterdam around the event period. This includes prize draws and activations directly linked to WorldPride highlights. The message is clear: “We fly you to WorldPride in Amsterdam”.
The KLM Royal Dutch Airlines WorldPride partnership goes beyond logos or press releases. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Delta are visible at key program points. This includes a joint boat in the Canal Parade, a presence in the WorldPride Village, and activities at other Pride formats. There, they aim to show how their values of diversity and inclusion are put into practice in everyday life.

What LGBTQ+ travelers can expect from KLM at WorldPride 2026
Flights, offers & WorldPride specials
For WorldPride 2026, KLM and Delta are clearly positioning themselves as “Your airline for WorldPride Amsterdam”. Travelers will see special campaigns and activations highlighting flights during the event period. These include prize draws for coveted spots on the Canal Parade and offers that pick up WorldPride themes.
If you are planning your trip to WorldPride, it is worth looking early at available routes, prices, and potential specials, especially from North America or other parts of Europe. For Flying Blue members, combining a Pride trip and the mileage program can be particularly attractive on longer routes.
Experiences on site: boat, village, Pride House
In Amsterdam, KLM, and Delta will share a boat in the Canal Parade. This is a strong symbol of their support for Pride Amsterdam and the global LGBTIQ+ community. In the WorldPride Village, the airlines are planning a presence where visitors can engage with information, activities, and encounters.
For WorldPride 2026, KLM, as the partner airline, is adding a Pride House in Amsterdam to its engagement. This space is intended to be a meeting point, safe space, and stage for talks, panels, and community events. The plan is to invite activists from countries where LGBTIQ+ rights are heavily restricted. This sends a strong signal to the community worldwide. It is not only about parties, but also about human rights and international solidarity.
Our recommendation: who KLM is a good fit for at WorldPride 2026
From our perspective, KLM is a good choice for Pride travelers who want a combination of reliable flight service, clear LGBTQ+ communication, and visible community support. If you value diversity and inclusion and also appreciate a strong route network, service, and an established frequent flyer program, KLM can be a good match for your WorldPride 2026 plans.
We still recommend approaching Pride partners consciously and critically. Look into alternatives, compare experiences, and share your impressions with others. Only when feedback from the community is heard can even big brands live up to their Pride claims in a credible way over the long term.

Pride, Diversity & LGBTQ+ Engagement at KLM
15 years of “Over the Rainbow” and internal networks
Behind KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ official Pride communication are internal networks that have been working towards an inclusive company culture for many years. One important example is “Over the Rainbow”. This KLM network for LGBTIQ+ employees has existed for more than 15 years and promotes visibility, safety, and exchange within the company.
KLM has also been a Workplace Pride Ambassador for several years. In addition, there are other diversity networks focusing on topics such as ethnic diversity or gender equality. The combination of internal communities and external partnerships shows that Pride at KLM is not just a summer campaign but part of a longer-term DEI strategy.

LGBTQ+ awards: visible signs to the outside
In 2026, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines received the Spartacus Travel Award as “Best LGBTQ+ Friendly Airline”. This builds on earlier recognition in the areas of Pride and diversity. For us as a queer travel couple, such awards are not the only yardstick. However, they do show that KLM is perceived as particularly LGBTQ+ friendly from the outside as well.
Pride flights by KLM
This year, KLM is going one step further by organizing dedicated Pride flights. The first Pride flight operated from Amsterdam to Toronto and was part of the Dutch airline’s global Pride activities. We love the idea of making Pride visible not only on the ground but also in the sky.
On 24 July, we will be on a European Pride flight ourselves, from Amsterdam to Berlin, just in time for Christopher Street Day in the German capital. After this flight, we will share our impressions in a separate post and link it here. This way you can read what a Pride flight with KLM really feels like, from boarding and the atmosphere on board to landing in a Pride city.

Diversity & Inclusion at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines: policy, not just rainbows
Official diversity and inclusion strategy
Beyond marketing campaigns, KLM communicates a clear strategy for diversity and inclusion. At its core are a diverse workforce, an inclusive work environment without discrimination, and concrete measures for a more inclusive travel experience for passengers. This includes training on unconscious bias, guidelines for fair recruitment, and support for the employee networks mentioned above.
In its statements, the airline emphasizes that it wants to create a culture in which employees feel respected regardless of their origin, gender, sexual orientation, or identity. For us, it is important that such promises do not only exist in documents. They need to be reflected in projects, policies, and everyday responsibilities. This is precisely where we focus our questions and research.
Gender-neutral options and inclusion when booking
A very practical element of inclusion is the introduction of gender-neutral options and more inclusive forms in the booking system. Visitors can choose gender-neutral forms of address alongside traditional options. Step by step, the systems are being adapted so that they no longer only represent a binary gender model.
For non-binary and trans travelers, this makes a clear difference in everyday life. The way you are addressed in emails, at the gate or on your boarding pass sends a strong signal. It shows whether an airline takes different identities seriously. In our bookings and reviews, we check how consistently these options are implemented. We pay attention to whether they are visible at all touchpoints or only in some areas.
Uniform policy: nail polish, make-up & jewelry for male employees
One of the most visible changes is KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ updated uniform policy. It now allows male employees to wear nail polish, make-up, and jewelry if they wish. In everyday life on board and at the airport, this means crew members can express their style more openly without breaking a strict, binary, gender-based uniform code.
For us as an openly gay travel couple, this is not just about appearance. It shows that KLM acknowledges that gender expression is diverse. This diversity is not limited to commercials; it is visible in everyday working life. At the same time, we observe how often these rules are actually used. The more natural queer and individual expression becomes on the job, the more credible this policy is.
Our experiences as LGBTQ+ travelers with KLM
Over five years of collaboration: Couple of Men and KLM
We have been flying with KLM regularly for several years and have carried out various collaborations, flight reviews, and Pride projects in that time. From short-haul flights within Europe to long-haul trips and Pride journeys, we have repeatedly experienced KLM from the perspective of an openly gay couple: at check-in, on board, in communication, and in community activities.
Our existing articles, such as “Gay-friendly KLM Royal Dutch Airlines”, and our flight reviews form the basis of how we assess the airline. We share positive experiences and critical points and clearly label collaborations. This allows readers to form their own opinion.
Gay-friendly airline in everyday travel
In our previous posts, we have shared various reasons why we experience KLM as a queer-welcoming airline. These include respectful treatment of us as a couple, Pride campaigns that run beyond Pride Week, and a route network with many Pride destinations.
In the context of WorldPride 2026, it becomes clear that KLM is not starting from scratch. The airline is building on existing LGBTQ+ engagement. Queer travelers heading to WorldPride in Amsterdam benefit from this. There are visible Pride elements on board, campaigns that directly address LGBTQ+ travel folks, and an environment in which same-sex couples and queer groups are naturally considered part of the target audience.

Between authenticity and pinkwashing: our view
Despite many positive signals, one question remains for us: how authentic is a brand when it presents itself strongly in Pride contexts? Is it supporting the community consistently, or is it mainly using Pride as a marketing tool? With KLM, we see both. On one hand, there are long-standing internal networks and concrete policies. On the other, there is very visible Pride communication and branding.
Our position is therefore nuanced. We welcome that KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the WorldPride partner airline and the many other initiatives. At the same time, we look at them in relation to sustainable engagement, accessibility for different income groups and responsibility towards less privileged community members. Transparency about collaborations and critical questions are, for us, part of honest reporting on Pride sponsors.
