L’Art Boutique Hotel Windsor Nice France gay-friendly – During our Gay Couple City Weekend Nice in December, we stayed at the Art & Spa Windsor Hotel in the city center of the French pearl at the Côte d’Azur. Already when entering the beautiful old building at Rue Dalpozzo the huge green garden peeks over the street wall. The lobby has an artsy vibe which you have to appreciate with a feel for the time period it was built in. During a short check-in introduction of the hotel facilities by the very friendly staff, we enjoyed a fruity welcome drink. If you are planning to join the OVNI festival in Nice, the Windsor Hotel is the place to stay. In 2015, the owner of the Hotel decided to initiate this special art festival. Therefore, the majority of the hotel rooms of Windsor change into small, unique video art installations. The second edition in 2016, where we could attend, had even more locations all over the city participating in the festival. Again, it was a great success. But now experience book your gay-friendly stay in Nice, France with Couple of Men.

Bienvenue at Art Boutique Hotel WindsoR Nice France gay-friendly
Our “Horizon” art room (great room prices on booking.com) on the first floor was very clean and spacious with a comfortable big bed. From the small balcony, we had a view over the street and lovely neighborhood buildings. Although it was a street view room, we could sleep undisturbed. The small introduction about the art piece by Claude Viallat in our room was a nice welcome. The clean bathroom was equipped with a shower and a bath.
Continental breakfast with Art
The breakfast in the morning served between 7 and 10:30 (weekends until 11 am) is continental with cheese, yogurt, fruits, cereals, bread, and sweets. Additionally, we enjoyed our coffee and juice in the beautiful breakfast room. Don’t miss to look up, since everywhere in the hotel building we encountered art pieces like flying elephants and an interactive elevator.
What better place could we have chosen for our late lunch than the Italian Restaurant “Chez Acchiardo“? Run by a family for 4 generations, the restaurant offers delicious homemade dishes from local products in a cozy ambiance. Have a look at our review about the Italian restaurant “Chez Acchiardo” in the old town part of the French city Nice.
A tropical oasis with a pool in Nice
A special highlight for us was the green oasis of a backyard. A big aviary with birds, a pool, and everywhere spots to sit and enjoy the fresh cooling air, read a book about Nice, or just relish the morning coffee as we did.
From Hôtel Windsor to the city of Nice
After a 15 to 20 minutes walk, we were already in the middle of the old town center of Nice. Loads of great restaurants, small shops, art galleries, and gay-friendly places are located all around that area. Just let yourself go and follow your instincts. Walking around like that, we discovered a book flea market, a gay bookstore, and some great places to just sit and do people-watching. Nice at the French Riviera is a perfect place for a slowdown weekend, especially during the calm winter months.

As always, we tried to find the best Escape room in town. Fox in a Box Nice makes you feel very welcome in their cute decorated waiting/chill area. We decided to play “The Bunker”, an escape room designed around the story of a nuclear bomb lounge by a mean spy during the peak of the Cold War in the early eighties.
