It was the first time for us to stay in an adult-only resort. We didn’t know what to expect and what the advantages would be until checking in at the Meliá 5-Star Resort build as a traditional Spanish village in the mountains. No children, luxuriously equipped rooms, professional staff, and an overall perfectly relaxing atmosphere created a serious holiday feeling just 15 minutes away from the busy skyscraper city center of the Spanish vacation destination Benidorm. During our long weekend in Spain for Benidorm Gay Pride, we stayed for four nights at “The Level” by Meliá waking up every morning with a fantastic view over the pools and the Mediterranean Sea. Although the resort is located outside the city center of Benidorm, the Meliá Villaitana was the perfect spot for getting rest and thanks to the rich breakfast and dinner buffet, new energy to visit the theme park Terra Mítica, the water park Aqualandia, biking around with Tao Electric Bikes rental or spend your time at Levante or Poniente. Review: Gay-friendly stay in Benidorm
Our stay was flawless. Everything was perfectly aligned and coordinated beginning with the check-in procedure with a glass of champagne to the free luggage service and the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Especially the time after the main season (off-season) starting in September is much quieter in Benidorm, although the Spanish city on the Costa Blanca is all year long a vacation destination particularly for the UK and the Netherlands. We had a blast of a time at The Level Meliá Villaitana Benidorm. And yes, we would definitely stay again at the gay-friendly adults-only 5-star resort in Benidorm. You want to know why?
We were booked in a Pool Side Double Room with a huge balcony on the 7th floor overlooking the pool area. What a great surprise was waiting for us when a dozen rainbow-colored balloons were floating over our bed. We could not miss the chance to make this wonderful photo. Furthermore, the room was equipped with a very comfortable king-size bed with a canopy. Additionally, the room had a sofa, a desk and plenty of storage space in the room, and a walk-in closet with iron, bathrobes, slippers, and a safe. Perfect for our Gay Pride Benidorm outfits! Thanks to the two-door system and the small hallway, any noise or music coming from the square outside in front of the hotel was blocked. The bathroom was very spacious too and outfitted with a bath, a shower, two sinks, and complimentary bathroom utilities. And of course, with rainbow-colored towels. What a surprise, seriously. Every evening the staff prepared our bed a second time of the day leaving small good-night chocolate on our bed. Simply perfect.
Breakfast & Brunch Buffet with a View
Every morning a rich breakfast buffet was waiting for us directly by the pool with a diverse choice of local sweets, desserts, fruit salads, and a selection of warm delicacies. The breakfast area offered the possibility to enjoy the food right next to the pool or even sitting above the water on the wooden terrace. Ask for a freshly made omelet, fried fish, or meat, and enjoy your meal with a good coffee, fruit juice, and champagne, as we did. Everything was delicious and the exact right mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals to start our day to explore Benidorm or to just chill and relax on one of the pool chairs.
Dinner at The Level by Meliá Benidorm
The next surprise was waiting for us for dinner. For everyone who is looking for a place to have dinner at or around the adults-only resort, The Level by Meliá Benidorm offers a rich dinner buffet as well. The gay-friendly staff of the hotel organized a special place next to the water with candles and flowers for us to celebrate gay pride. It felt almost magical to sit by the pool having dinner under the moonlight trying all the different local and international menus…
Architecture of The Level Meliá Villaitana Benidorm
As mentioned before, The Level by Meliá Villaitana Benidorm Resort was built taking a Spanish village as an example. Although it is a huge resort connected to the 4-star hotel Meliá Villaitana, the architecture, interior design, and very caring staff created an almost intimate atmosphere. The two outdoor pools and plenty of places to relax and possibilities of retreat all around the property gave us always the feeling of being alone or at least never the feeling of staying at a crowded place. Take a moment and have a careful look around, and you will discover the love for details and composition of design and artwork. Or book a treatment at the hotel Spa or take some time and play golf for some hours. The Villaitana 4-star part offers several additional pool areas with an artificial sand beach pool, tennis courts, bars, and food trucks. Staying at The Level, access to the 4-star area is included. One tip: Keep in mind when booking your stay, The Level offers the possibility of hosting events like weddings which might take place during the day close to the pool area.
