Teleférico del Puerto Port Cable Car Barcelona. A great way to see the beautiful Catalan city from above is by Port Cable Car from the harbor area all the way up to Mirador del Poble Sec (Transbordador Aeri del Port Estacion de Montjuic). The view during our ride was spectacular but also kind of scary since the small red gondola was full of tourists impatient to come to the other side. The trip was definitely worth the long waiting time. But let us tell you more about this special Spanish Barcelona experience. Coming from the beach promenade of Barcelona we discovered the huge tower of the cable car in between palm trees. Heading towards the entrance, we first had to wait quite a while to overcome the long queue. The heat of the Mediterranean sun was cruel, but thanks to umbrellas and ventilators, the waiting time flew by. Also, because it was the perfect opportunity to get to know the waiting people around us and make some new friends. Enjoy the travel story and photos of our cable car adventure in Spain through a couple of men‘s eyes.
All Info about the Port Cable Car
The first queue to enter the cable car gondola, you need to wait downstairs in the sun until you can buy the ticket. Umbrellas and ventilators with water spray kept us cool but still, it was more than an hour before we could buy our tickets (€11 one way, €16.5 return). Check before/while you are queuing if you can pay by card since it was out of order for a while the moment it was our turn. After we finally got our tickets, it was just a small waiting time to get into the elevator that brought us all the way up to the gondola entrance.
The Trip with the Teleférico del Puerto
The view over Barcelona was stunning. Seriously. But still, we only took a one-way ticket to be able to explore the Mirador del Poble Sec and later on the beauty of the Mediterranean nature at Jardins de Mossèn Costa i Llobera (Gardens of Mossèn Costa i Llobera). Before you take the next Gondola back, you have to queue again, since it is not possible to just stay in the red cabin. Time for a coffee at Restaurante Miramar for example and to enjoy the view over the harbor and the city of Barcelona.

Good to know:
In the summer when the sun is heating up the beach and harbor area, the queue can get quite long before you can go with the elevator. Therefore, we recommend taking enough to drink. Umbrellas to protect you from the sun stand by for you, so do ventilation systems with cooling water spray. A perfect time to meet new friends and travel from all over the world, as we did.
